Water…

…is BACK! i must say, the swiss (for the first time), have impressed me with their promptness in fixing Girasole’s hot water. it was nice to come back from “basketball practice” and be able to take a shower in my own shower. ) oh and the reason i put basketball practice in quotes is because the “coach” failed to inform the women’s basketball team that we didn’t have practice tonight because the men have a game. so i walked up the hill in the dark alone only to be told that there was no practice. meh, i ran/shot around anyway. but still. douchebag. ) … YAY WATER!

Water…

…is another friend of mine. We came back last night only to find out that we didn’t have hot water in Girasole. Then this morning we found out that a pipe burst, the basement is flooded, and we have no water. Or we can’t use it at least. We can’t even use the bathroom! I’m okay with not being able to shower for a few days, but no bathroom?! Walking across the street to Residenza Florida is going to be the biggest pain…EVER. ( I hope they fix this problem soooooooooon… ( ( (

Dry land…

…is my friend. Last night, people from our residence and from the residence across the street (Florida), went ice-skating! Kara and Annabelle organized the trip, so we hopped on the bus around 8:30 to go to the rink. It was a covered rink but it was still basically outdoors. Now, my brother is probably the only one who knows how iceskating -retarded I am… and well, now everyone knows!

I hung on to the wall for a very long time… then I went around the rink once with Alexis, Tahnee, and Hayley without falling! yayyy D I did go very slowly though. Anyhoo! Eddie brought his helmet and was pretty much terrified, but by the end he was getting the hang of it. Keba (from Gambia) obviously had never been ice-skating either but everyone was helping him get along as well. There was, of course, an annoying showoff who I wanted to smack in the face. Annoying kid. Actually, there were a few people who I wanted to smack in the face, but I won’t get into that.

So yeahhhh Keely was all over the ice (negative connotation) at first, then she got better. Then I finally left the wall and went around with Tahnee once, then grabbed a walker and skated with that. I must say, I am an AWESOME ice-skater when I have something to hold on to! D hahah We left around 11 and some of us headed to McD’s because there was extra money from the little excursion to be spent. I got a McFlurry… but it was a Euro McFlurry– therefore it was tiny! C’monnnn… )

back to the hills that are alive…

the flight from DC to Munich (some key points):

- i sat next to a young-ish man who was on his way with some friends to go skiing in Germany. i’m not sure if they are aware of the lack of snow. anyway, he was a pretty talkative man, didn’t catch his name though. he is originally from Michigan, but is living in DC for at least 5 years because of his job with the Department of Commerce. he deals with something called “dumping”. he explained this whole dumping thing to me which was kind of interesting. yes, mystery man was a talker… anyhoo, he also explained to me that he is a vegetarian and before he gets on a plane, he orders some indian vegetarian dish online rather than the regular vegetarian pasta dish they’d give you on the plane. oh and mystery man didn’t strike me as a vegetarian. big guy with tattoos. ha.
- i wanted to order some red wine, but the flight attendant didn’t hear me, so my plane buddy got me my wine. THEN he asked if i was 21… told him no, and he just laughed. D

- i ate ravioli. it was pretty good.
- there was 1 movie on the ride over: “Scoop”. didn’t watch it.

- my plane buddy tried flirting with the flight attendant numerous times… i think she just thought he was stupid. he was cool though because he read my girly magazines with me! haha
the flight from Munich to Zurich:

- Munich airport was okay this time. i saw the same cute dude working at the security checkpoint thingy that i saw when i was going back to america… weird.

- i sat next to this german-looking lady who seemed quite nice. then i passed out on the about 40 minute plane ride.

the flight from Zurich to Lugano:

  - there were a couple of FC kids on my flight, one of which i actually talk to (Alexis). it was nice running into her because we got to split a cab to Girasole.

- i got one suitcase… but the one with all of my important stuff (my clothes) never came. yes, my suitcase was lost…

- … until TODAY. it arrived at FC today thank goodness. D
i loved being at home… thank you canim ailem D and my friendsies! the food was amazing, the company was great… i loved it. D can’t wait to see you guys again in may! (or sooner!!!) )
